Pitch Rejection

15 August 2007

I've heard back from the regional TV company aout the proposed DVD project. Unfortunately their picth was unsuccessful so the project won't be going ahead. However, they did contact me and said they would keep me in mind for any future suitable projects. One door closes and another opens. Next time, next time!

First Round

02 August 2007

For the second year running I've made the first round of the BSSC. I am delighted with this because I chose to enter a comedy, a very difficult genre to get right as comedy is subjective. Let's hope I've got it right and I get through to the second round, which I failed to achive last year.

Back With A Vengeance

31 July 2007

I've spent the last two days gathering all the material together for the South West Screen Screenwriter Development Competition. It's all polished and proofed so all I need to do now is print off two copies (out of ink - new cartridge on order) and then post them out.

I have also completed a rewrite of Where Angels Fear To Tread, and I've changed the title to White Knight. I'm finally happy with it so it's time to send it out.

What to do next? I think Buddha Of Birmingham is due a rewrite.

Waste Waste Waste

27 July 2007

Been ill, but I still managed to enter the Red Planet competition and send off a couple of bits and bobs.

Received one rejection and that's about it. As I said I've been ill, so I intend to make up for it next week.

Back From A Break

23 July 2007

I came back from a well earned break to find an email from a regional TV company asking me if I was interested in writing a 15 minute script for a educational DVD project. I've sent them a quote and a couple of examples of my work so we'll see how it goes from here.

This week, before I start on any rewrites, I have a couple of competitions to enter and a few script calls to respond to. It almost feels like I've not been away.

Choices

11 July 2007

I think I'm finally settled on which script I'm sending to which competition. Cross The Rubicon will be entered in the South West Screen Screenwriter Development Competition and Where Angels Fear To Tread in Red Planet's.

I am currently rewriting Faith as I'm not happy with the structure and some of the characters. With a bit of luck it might look quite presentable by the end of the month.

I have two new ideas lined up to be my next projects, both of which are comedy drama features.

Buddha

04 July 2007

Belinda Evangelista and myself have come to an agreement over our project Buddha Of Birmingham, and I am pleased to announce that I am again working on the first episode. I'm very pleased with the first draft and those colleagues who have read it seem to like it a lot. The rewriting will start again soon.

Buddha Of Birmingham will also take the place of Epitaph in my agents pack, so it will be delayed until Buddha is polished to my liking. The reason for this is Buddha is a much stronger script and despite some reworking Epitaph still feels like a student script.

I have started sending out one pagers for Cross The Rubicon to production companies and I have already received two 'no thank you's. On wards and up wards as always.
